Rahul Chahar asked to bowl quicker on the fast lane, he says Shane Warne is my idol, Mumbai Indians spinner Rahul Chahar. Mumbai Indians leg-spinner Rahul Chahar has seized the opportunities that has come his way in the ongoing season of Indian Premier League. The 19-year-old Chahar, cousin of Chennai Super Kings pacer Deepak, goes down the memory lane to discuss his journey.
Chahar has made the most of the opportunities that have come his way in the season so far as he continues to impress for MI. The 19-year-old from Bharatpur in Rajasthan took his baby steps into wrist spin by studying Australian spin legend Shane Warne.
“My idol is Shane Warne. When I was eight years old, my coach used to bring DVDs of Warne and made me watch them. After watching those videos, I started bowling like him,” said Chahar when asked about his role model at the post-match press conference.
Slowly I am starting to gain confidence as I am bowling well in the ongoing season. Shane Bond and Zaheer Khan have backed me well. During net sessions, they guide me. Whenever I need them, they are there. 19-year-old spinner signed off. I learnt a lot of things from Shane Bond, and now, Zaheer Khan is also here.
